February '05

24 / FEB / 05 : The site might be down from time to time in the next few days leading up to March 1st as I do some work on the layout. I'll try my best to make sure that this only lasts for an hour or so at a time though. I just figured I should give you all a heads up in advance.

24 / FEB / 05 : The results of the latest Geek Tragedy survey will be posted along with a brief (oh who am I kidding), I mean typically long winded write up. A new survey will be posted on Tuesday. Thanks to all who participated.

22 / FEB / 05 : It's Tuesday folks! A new strip and "With Apologies" are all shined up and ready to be taken for a test drive. Enjoy!

UPDATE : Grey's bio has now been added to the "Meet the Geeks" page.

The "Dear mom," section has now been updated as well.

15 / FEB / 05 : The new strip and this week's "With Apologies" are up. Other updates will be posted by noon

11 / FEB / 05 : I did up a little St. Valentine's Day card just in case any of you forgot to get something for that special someone out there.

It may save your ass...or it may cause you're relationship to go down in flames. If the latter happens I take no responsibility, but if you two end up getting married you have to swear that you'll name your first kid after me.

08 / FEB / 05 : The "With Apologies" and "Dear mom," section's updates have been posted. And now that I've got my internet connection back, I've added Frank's bio to the "Meet the Geeks" section as well. This week I'll try to fill in the time between strips with some extra content so keep your eyes peeled.

08 / FEB / 05 : Tuesday has finally arrived and with it a brand new strip. For those of you who were wondering, new strips are posted each Tuesday at the stroke of midnight CST (give or take a few minutes), with the supporting text showing up around noon. I'm working on getting both text and strip up at the same time, but for now this will have to do.

Also of note, I plan on making a few changes to the general layout of the site. With any luck these will all be finished by March 1st. I'll talk more about this in the "With Apologies..." section though, so I won't bother going into more detail here.

03 / FEB / 05 : My mother will be very pleased to know that the "Dear mom," page has now been updated. This should complete the pre-launch updates. I'm still tweaking the site a bit so if anything major happens I'll be sure to post it here. Back to working on next week's strip...

01 / FEB / 05 : It's just after 12 noon so I figure I'd give a little progress report. The following areas have now been updated as of this posting. "The Home Page" (yeah, no kidding right?), "News", "Meet the Geeks", and "With Apologies...".

I'm still plugging away here though so in the next couple hours you can expect to see; some actual info added to "Contact & Info", a brief note to my mom in "Dear Mom," and a new survey along with a little write up on the results of the previous one.

Okay time to reload the caffeine machine and then back at it...

UPDATE: All the content I was hoping to add today has now been added with the exception of the "Dear Mom," page. However I'm sure my mother will understand if I finish that off later and get some much needed sleep in the mean time. Love you mom!

Welcome to www.GeekTragedy.ca!

Starting today, and with any luck continuing on for a very, VERY long time, the site will be updated every Tuesday with a new strip. Truth be told, the site isn't actually scheduled to fully launch until March 1st, so what you're seeing here is sort of a "pre-launch" test drive. Really though, the only thing that makes the first four updates different from the "actual" launch, which will take place March 1st btw, is the subject matter.

You see Geek Tragedy is my attempt at an ongoing, loosely based (and I mean extremely loosely based) autobiographical story line told in web-comic form. It will chronicle the lives of four friends as they try their best to survive the many ordeals that life (and death) throw their way. Only not quite as boring as that makes it sound.

For the rest of the month however the story line will be set aside to allow for a four part series of "breaking the fourth wall" type strips that will in no way further Geek Tragedy�s main plot. What they will do is give me taste of what juggling a full-time job, a web comic and an already near non-existent social life will be like and allow me to work out any kinks I may find in the mean time. So far this has been working like a charm because I�ve already found a fair amount of kinks. Oh, for the love of God, have I ever found kinks! Big, fat, honkin', how-could-you-possibly-have-not-seen-this-one-coming type kinks biting me square on the ass.

However, my kinky website and what it does to my ass is not what this little welcome section is about so I�ll leave that topic for another day. What I'd like to do now is give you a brief rundown on the various sections of the site so you�ll have some idea as to what to expect. So hear goes�

Home : This is where you'll find the new strip each week. It�ll also have News and other links telling you about what new and exciting things are going on in the GT universe. These links can be found below the strip. Of course you most likely wouldn�t be at this page reading this if you hadn�t already figured this all out so why am I telling you this to begin with.

News : The section you�re currently in right now. Here you will find�well�news about what�s going on in the site. I guess this one didn�t really need explaining did it?

With Apologies� : Basically this will be type of Geek Tragedy blog. It's where I�ll post a little rant, explanation, or other various titbits about the current week�s strip. For example, this week I'll be sure to tell you all about my being a functional illiterate thus explaining how I could've possibly used the wrong spelling for "tail" in the strip (this has now been corrected in case you're looking for it). Plus, as the name would dictate, it�s also where I plan to preemptively ask forgiveness from anyone who I think may feel slighted or offend by my silly little doodles. This in turn will hopefully prevent the need for any angry e-mails to be sent my way by upset readers. I have absolutely no faith whatsoever that this will work, but I figure it�s worth a shot.

Dear mom, : My mother has always been very supportive of everything I�ve ever done. Well okay, maybe not everything I�ve done. She wasn�t exactly a big fan of me hiding certain magazines under my mattress when I was a teenager for example, but I digress. Anyway, even though she is very happy and proud that I've started to tap into my artistic side again, she isn�t always on the same page when it comes to my choice of subject matter. Sometimes it may just be a simple matter of her not "getting" a pop culture reference. While other times she understands all too well what I�m talking about and wonders "Where could I have possibly gone so horribly wrong in his upbringing that would allow for him to come up with something like that?" It is for those moments that I created this special section dedicated just to her. In essence it's an effort on my part to smooth over any feather I may ruffle with one of my strips, and of course let her know each week that her little baby boy loves her very much�and to ask her if I can borrow some money.

Archives : Where strips from previous weeks get gently tucked away for safe keeping so that future generations can enjoy them. Each strip will be accompanied by a brief little description and links that can take people to other areas of the site that may relate to that specific strip. I�m not overly fond of how this area is set up right now so with any luck I�ll be able to revamp it more to my liking in the near future.

Meet the Geeks : Pics and bios of all the cast members. During the pre-launch a new cast member bio / pic will be added each week, starting with Noname, till all four of the core GT crew have been revealed. Once the pre-launch is over all the bios and pics will stay up and content will be added to them over time. And no, I will not post any nude drawings of Frank so quit asking damn it (you know who you are)!

Contact & Info : Want to know how you can drop me an e-mail? This is the place. Feel the need to learn a little more about me? This is the place. Curious about what kind of sites I�d link to? This is the place. Feel a strange burning sensation when you pee? Um�call a doctor. It ain�t got nothing to do with me, I swear!

Store : I�ve got good and bad news. The good news is that this is the place to get all your Geek Tragedy related items, and until March 1^st everything in the store is free! Guess what the bad news is�

So there you have it folks. It may still be in its infancy stage but I hope you enjoy the site just the same. And please feel free to tell all your friends about it.
