29 / NOV / 06 - 1822 CST : Busy day...

Hey folks.  I was doing a lot of running around today so I got kind of a late start on the strip.  I will have a new one up today as usual, but it won't be till much later on in the evening.  See ya then.

Later,

27 / NOV / 06 - 2311 CST : "Animal Cruelty - Pt. III"

If you're new to the comic and you haven't gone through the whole archives yet, you may want to check out a couple of past strips in order to better understand what's going on with today's offering.  And for those of you who have already read them and are wondering if this will have something to do with this year's Christmas story line...well you'll just have to wait and see.

Later,

1509 CST : I guess I'll be taking up lawn bowling now...

Howdy folks.

Well if you've been checking out the forum lately you no doubt know that I've hit the big "3 -Oh no"!  So I'd like to thank all of you who have sent me Birthday wish in one form or another over the past few days.  It means a lot.

And I feel I should give a special shout out to my friend Christy for taking the time to do up this little tasty treat to help me celebrate the big day:

Thanks Christy!

Oh, and while I'm sharing pics, here's one that was sent to me by Clayton Stewart:

Clayton also did up a group shot with himself and some of the other folks from the forum which you can check out here.  Thanks man!

But enough about me...

Lar deSouza (I won't attach my usually "of Least I Could Do fame" description to him this time as I'm sure by now y'all know who he is) recently had a televised news story done about him talking about his caricature, and cloning puppetry work.  So if you have a chance you should give it a look.

By the way, I defy you not to laugh each and every time you see "little Lar" on screen!

And on a serious note...

My friend Jessie sent out an e-mail not too long ago telling me about a site called "Light to Unite".  The idea behind the site is that Bristol Myers Squibb will donate $1 (up to $100 000) for anyone who heads over there and lights a candle to help fight AIDS.  It's rare that people have the chance to do something that can help out so many others around them by simply clicking on a link, so I hope y'all take the four seconds out of your day that's needed and light a candle to help.

Last but not least...

I have a birthday dinner to go to tonight, so while the strip should still be up before the end of the day, it may be only in black and white.  Now usually if I can't get the colours done I'll just leave a strip B&W, but in the case of today's offering I think it'd really suffer for it.  So I do promise to get the colours done before the next strip is up on Wednesday.

Okay folks, I better get back at it.

Later,

24 / NOV / 06 - 2329 CST : Still on the way...

EDIT: Been meaning to colour this for months and months, so I figured now was as good a time as any.  Hope you enjoy it folks.  I'll get back to the current story line on Monday.

Just letting you all know that I'll have something up to show you guys in another hour or so.  However the strip wasn't quite working out so I had to go with some alternative artwork.  You'll see what I'm talking about in an hour or so.

0719 CST : It's been too long...

Sorry for the lengthy delay in dropping by and saying hi, but unfortunately I've been rather busy lately.  Still, it's high time I gave you folks an update as the goings on within the GT universe, so here goes.

Works in progress...

A month or so ago over on my Myspace page I put up an offer for five free bits of artwork that I'd be giving out for anyone who both:

a) Dropped a comment requesting the artwork.

b) Put forth that same offer on their own Myspace, or Livejournal.

Well I just wanted to let those five people (and the three or four other folks out there waiting on some work) know that I haven't forgotten my obligations to you, and that I will have them all finished up before we say goodbye to 2006.

Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to a friend who has been extremely patient in waiting for the artwork, print and book I owe her.  So Chornsy, you can expect to get your stuff very soon too.  Not sure the exact day, but I swear to you it will be before Santa comes and drops his load under your Christmas tree (Wow.  Have you ever written something that was meant to be completely on the level only to have it sound horribly filthy?).

So yeah, it's looking like December is shaping up to be a busy month for me.

A possible new cure for nudity...

With only three GT-shirts left I've been giving a lot of thought to producing a new item to restock the store the with.  Now instead of just having a new shirt available for sale, I'd like to stock a few different items ranging in price for you guys to choose from.  That way those of you who find a shirt to be a bit out of your price range will still have the opportunity to grab a bit of swag that better fits into your budget.

I can't tell you much about what's happening on this front at the moment, but for those of you who have asked, it doesn't look like I'll have anything available before Christmas (sorry!).  However whatever I do come up with I will most likely be running by you guys first both here and on the forum in order to get a bit of feedback.  So keep your eyes peeled.

In the meantime if you have any suggestions, please let me know.  Just keep in mind though that I'm not at the point where I can warrant sinking a ton of money into merch, so while stuff like a Mr. Bojangles plushy is a great idea, it's fairly far removed from reality for the time being.

Late evening is the new afternoon...

Getting back to the more immediate future, I wanted to give y'all a heads up on today's strip.  I've got a whole slew of running around to do today, so it most likely won't be up till just shy of midnight tonight.  Of course that time frame seems to be becoming more and more common lately, so I don't think I'm really surprising anyone here.

Well I think that's just about it for me.  So if you'll excuse me I've got a hot date with a stacked rack of dirty dishes I need to get ready for (btw, the mobile dishwasher...best invention ever!).

Later,

-Ed

20 / NOV / 06 - 1442 CST : Once more a creature of the night...

Hey folks!

Well it's back to my regular midnight shifts at work, so here's hoping this week'll go a lot smoother for me as far as getting the site stuff done and staying sane is concerned.

Plus, once Thursday hits I'll be off work for just over a week, so it looks like I'm finally going to get a chance to catch up on all the projects I've been putting on the backburner for the past couple of months.  Which means if you've been waiting on artwork from me, more likely than not you can expect to see it come the beginning of December.

As for today's strip, it'll be up later on tonight.  I'm thinking sometime between 7 to 9 PM.

Well that's all for now.

Later,

16 / NOV / 06 - 2154 CST : "Disciplinary Actions"

Yeah, it's black and white.  And I know I haven't been posting here or on the forum at all in past couple of days.  Plus there are a few of you out there that have been waiting on e-mails from me, but this week has been just brutal on me so far.

All I can say is that I am most definitely not a day person, and so these last few 9 to 5 shifts have not meshed well with my life in general.    However, that all ends tomorrow, so things should be back to normal not long after that.

Anyway, thanks for (hopefully) being understanding about the whole thing.

14 / NOV / 06 - 1751 CST : Almost forgot...

I'm stuck working three day shifts this week do to training, so tomorrow's and Friday's strips will most likely be up much later than usual (around 10 or 11 PM).  Just wanted to give y'all a heads up.

1104 CST : Two of a crowd...

Hey folks.

A couple weekends ago at the MB comic con I ended up running into an old university buddy named Jeff Dabu, who I hadn't seen in about seven years or so.  Back in our Fine Arts days Jeff was one of only two people that I knew of whose work was primarily based around sequential art, and by the time we ended up losing contact his work was shaping up to be truly incredible.

So a few days ago Jeff and I were finally able to catch up a bit and find out what we've each been up to for the past decade.  As it turns out Jeff is currently finding work as an inker on various comics.  One of the books he's managed to work on was part of a Spike vs Dracula mini series produced by IDW.  As a huge Buffy fan I can't tell you how jealous I was to find out that Jeff had managed to make a mark on that particular universe.

Anyway, I wanted to take a moment to show you a bit of Jeff's work, so I picked out a piece he did a while pack.  Now keep in mind this isn't just an example of something Jeff inked, he also did the pencils and colouring for it as well.

Before I show it to you though, allow me to throw in a bit of a comparison.  Here is how I go about drawing a crowd scene:

And this is how Jeff does it...

Click on the pic above to see the full image

Yeah, I know.  It's freakin' insane.

If you want to check out a bit more of Jeff's work, head on over to his Deviant Art page.

One more thing before I go.  I've managed to put up some of the links I've been meaning to add to the links page.  There are still more I plan to toss up there, but unfortunately I'm kinda short on time right now.

13 / NOV / 06 - 1810 CST : "Symbolic Gestures - Pt. VII"

Sorry it took me so long to get this one up.  I fell a bit behind today.

I was going to update the links today, and post some kick ass artwork for you guys to see (not my own artwork btw, someone else's), but at this point I really need to get to bed.  So look for a bit of non-Geek Tragedy eye-candy to be shown here tomorrow!

Okay, sleep time.

10 / NOV / 06 - 2228 CST : One more thing...

If you're a fan of Tenacious D, then you need to check this out.  And if you're not a fan, become one.  And if you don't become one...you're dead to me.

Later,

-Ed

2208 CST : Phil...

Well I'm still not totally happy with it yet, but you guys waited long enough to get your GT fix, so I figured I'd best post it now.  Sorry there's not a strip today, but hopefully you'll be okay with this little bit of Philler art.

Get it? "Philler" art...'cause it's a filler pic of...oh cut me some slack, I'm sick, okay?!

Later,

-Ed

1811 CST : Art will be here soon...

Sorry for going so long without keeping you updated on my progress today.  I've been napping on and off today due to this freakin' cold, so my sleep schedule is pretty screwed up at the moment.

I'll have something up for you guys to see very soon.  It won't exactly be the strip you might have been expecting but hopefully you'll enjoy it just the same.  Think of it as sort of the product of my messing around with different styles in photo shop.

Anyway, I'll be back in a few hours with eye candy.

Later,

-Ed

1135 CST : Done...

The con report is finally up folks.

Later,

-Ed

PS:  I'll also be updating the link page in the next day or so to accommodate all the new folks I met at the con.

0916 CST : It's done(ish)...

Hey folks.

You'll be happy to know that I turned the water back on in my house and there ain't a stray drop to be found!

Oh yeah, and I've finished writing the con report now.  So just as soon as I add in a few pics and do a quick proofread I'll be back here to give you the link to it.  After which I will get my ass in gear and finish up the newest strip.

Later,

-Ed

09 / NOV / 06 - 2021 CST : In lieu of a con report, here's a plumbing report...

Allow me to give y'all a bit of advice.  If you want escape from some serious headaches that go along with owning a home, become a plumber. Or marry one.  Trust me, it'll save you a lot of grief!

Oh yeah, and when the packaging for something that is supposed to patch damaged pipes says "sets within twenty minutes" don't take that at face value and turn the water back on thinking everything will be fine. 'Cause the packaging is a cesspool of LIES!

And now, because I still have access to my sister's digital camera, here are some exciting shots of what I've been dealing with when I should've been finishing off the con report!

Here is the area of the my downstairs bathroom where I discovered water leaking in from the ceiling and dripping down along the wall!

This is a shot of the seedy underbelly of my kitchen sink where the water was coming from.  Notice the lovely cast iron plumbing!  Boy, they sure don't make it like that anymore.  And I can only hope that's because the person who did make it like that was killed before he had a chance to spread his demon pipes to any other homes!

This is the water shut off valve for my house.  Of course, it doesn't actually tighten up enough to completely shut the water off.  That would just be silly!

Pictured here is everything I used to try and fix the problem.  Except for the rampant profanity. That I wasn't able to catch on film.

A nice close up of the "did we say it sets in 20 minutes, 'cause we meant 20 HOURS" plumber's epoxy that I used (twice now) on the leak that wouldn't freakin' stop no matter what I did!

And here is the leaky area to which, as you can see, I have delicately applied the epoxy (TWICE!).  The leak was actually only coming from the pipe near the top, but I figured while I was down there I might as well coat the shit out of anything that could possibly squirt out water.

Anyway, the con report is coming. Much later than I'd hoped, but it's coming.  For now though, I just want to take some more cold medicine and go to bed.

Later,

-Ed

1511 CST : Where the water doesn't flow...

Hey folks.  Just letting you know that the con report is still going to be up today eventually, just a little lot later than I thought.  I got a bit delayed thanks to a "fixed" plumbing problem becoming "unfixed" earlier today.

I currently have all the water shut off in my house while I'm waiting for some plumber epoxy stuff to dry.  It's been just under an hour now and I've already tried to using the sink about half a dozen times completely forgetting there ain't no water to be had.  Isn't that kind of forgetfulness only supposed to happen much later in life?

Oh well, I blame the cold medicine.

Later,

-Ed

08 / NOV / 06 - 1653 CST : "Symbolic Gestures - Pt. VI"

Well it would appear that at least one of the 2600+ people who attended the con last weekend had themselves a nice little cold.  That's right folks, I'm sick...again.

Don't worry though, I didn't have to bring back good old Stevie to make excuses for me this time as I managed to get the strip done as planned.

Oh, one more thing before I crawl into bed and wallow in self pity.  The long awaited con report will be up for you guys to check out tomorrow, so you may want to drop by again within the next 24 hours.

Well that's it for me.  Time to munch on some Nyquil gel-caps!

Later,

07 / NOV / 06 - 1609 CST : I swear I didn't touch a thing!

It seems we're having forum problems again folks.  If you reply to a topic, you'll most likely get an error message, but your replies do seem to be showing up just the same.  I'm looking into the problem, but so far all I've been able to learn from the feedback I've received is that the problem isn't my fault.  I'm told it has something to do with my provider.

I've also been told that this problem will "fix itself" in the next 24 hours.  Boy, wouldn't it be nice if that were true?  Anyway, I don't think I'll be holding my breath till the magical healing powers of time take hold of this situation and sort things out for me, so I'm gonna keep looking into it myself.

Later,

-Ed

1425 CST : The social cyber butterfly...

Well I'm currently trying my best to shape the events of the last weekend into some kind of semi-coherent con report, so look for that to be up either tomorrow or Thursday.   As well, I should have the "Pictures" link active by the end of the week so that y'all can take a look at some of the amazing people I was lucky enough to meet (note to self, learn how to use the anti-redeye function on your sister's digital camera before the next con).

I've also been doing my best to keep in touch with, and check out the sites of all the folks I met over the last couple of days.  On my best days I'm still usually quite slow at getting back to people via e-mail, so I apologize to anyone who I haven't had a chance to say hi to yet.  However I'm sure I'll be giving you a shout out in the upcoming report so hopefully that'll make up for my lack of correspondence.

Anyway, I better get back at it.

Later,

-Ed

06 / NOV / 06 - 0733 CST : Back to reality...

Hey folks.

Just dropping by to let you know that I had a wonderful time at the con this weekend.  I'll try to give you a bit more info on it after I get the strip up, but I've got a lot of thoughts and whatnot to sort through regarding the past couple of days, so you may have to wait for the con report I'll be doing later on in the week.

One thing I would like to do right now though is thank Michael and Violet Paille for putting on one hellova great show this weekend, and for treating myself and all the other artists there like gold!  You did a wonderful job, and I'm already looking forward to next year!

That's all for now folks.  I gotta get back to work.

03 / NOV / 06 - 0729 CST : "Symbolic Gestures - Pt. IV"

Not much to say right now as I'm still trying to get things ready for the con.  Hopefully I'll see a few of y'all there this weekend.   And remember that after the con on Saturday there will the GT "meet & greet" thing going on at around 8pm.  For more info see the post below or check out the forum.

That's all for me.  I'll try to have a con report up on Tuesday, and of course there will be a new strip up on Monday so I should have a chance to tell you a bit about how it went then as well.

Later,

-Ed
