30 / APR / 07 - 1432 CST : End game...

Hey folks.

Well this strip will pretty much wrap up the Game Day story line for now.  I had actually planned on continuing on with it for another week, but in the end I decided it was time to move on.  I will however be revisiting the crew's gaming sessions in the future though, so for those of you who were kind enough to e-mail me and drop me a note on the forum letting me know how much you've enjoyed it, you have something to look forward to.

Well that's all for me.  See ya Wednesday!

27 / APR / 07 - 2016 CST : The wee hours...

[Edit] - Oh, let's just say it'll be done sometime in the next 24 hours instead, shall we?  It's my own fault really.  Whenever I give a specific timeframe for an already late strip to be finished, something always ends up delaying it just a bit further. Which is the case here.

Hey folks.

Please excuse the tardiness of this post.

I ran into a couple of unexpected things today that I needed to take care of, so that's why the strip isn't up yet.  I'll have it done ASAP, but I'm actually taking off for a while tonight so it looks like it won't be finished until about 3 or 4am tonight.  So if you're still up you may want to check it out then, but if not I'm sure it'll still be here waiting for you come morning.

26 / APR / 07 - 1745 CST : Thus proving the old saying...

A bare ass is funny, but a hairy one is pure comedic gold...and a little bit creepy...but mostly gold.

That's all I got folks.

25 / APR / 07 - 2034 CST : Too many Z's...

Hey folks.

Just woke up.  Hauling ass to get the strip done before I head off to work.  If I can't though, I'll have it done tomorrow.  Sorry for the delay.

23 / APR / 07 - 1533 CST : "Game Day - Pt. VIII"

Hey folks.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the colours done on the last strip over the weekend, so it looks like that's going to be put on the backburner for now.

And on a strictly self-congratulatory note, the D&D geek in me is so totally pleased with himself for that "hill giants alive with the sound of music" line.  Seriously, when I thought that one up I lost my saving throw vs. geekgasms. But enough stroking myself, I'm heading to bed.

...

Okay, so maybe that "stroking" comment wasn't the best segue I could've used...

20 / APR / 07 - 1722 CST : "Game Day - Pt. VII"

Hey folks!

A few things to mention.  First off, sorry about not having the colours done quite yet.  I'll try to finish those off this weekend.

Secondly, if you're looking for the last Viewer Feedback that I put up on Wednesday, I moved it back a bit in the archives so that it wouldn't break the flow of the current storyline.  Granted sometimes I leave these in the same place that I first post them if they crop up in the middle of a story, but I only like doing that when the feedback has some sort of direct relation to the arc I'm working on at the time.

And last but not least, I corrected a couple spelling errors in the aforementioned strip.  It seems that not only did I spell marriage wrong (and let's not read into the potential subconscious reasoning's behind that mistake too deeply), but more embarrassingly then that, I also screwed up the spelling of my last name too.  However, seeing as how other people have been doing that for years, I think I'm entitled to that mistake at least once in my life.

Okay guys, I'm taking off.  Have a great weekend and I'll talk to you soon.

18 / APR / 07 - 2004 CST : Oops...

Hey folks.

My body seemed to take a stand today and demanded more that I catch up on some sleep, so I ended up waking up quite late today.  And given the time I had left before I needed to go back into work tonight, I knew I wouldn't be able to get "Game Day - Pt. VII" done on time.  So that's why I've decided to dip back into the old mailbag for today.

Okay, I'm off.

16 / APR / 07 - 1656 CST : "Game Day - Pt. VI"

Hey folks.  Two things I want to mention today.

First up I wanted to show you a couple of Southpark inspired, GT related pics that my friend Corey did up for his Myspace page.  Aside from being a bud, Corey has also been a wonderful PR rep for the site for a long time now, and is quite the artistic talent as well.

Anyway, when I saw these pics I just knew I needed to have them shown off to the rest of you, so here you go...

My spring break...

The other thing I wanted to mention was that I'll be taking a week off from the strip sometime in May.  I'm not sure when exactly, but most likely in the second or third week.  I've got a lot of stuff I need to get sorted out in the next couple of months, and a week without stripage will go a long way towards giving me more time to do it all.

Once I have a better handle on the exact dates I'll be taking off I'll be sending out a few heartfelt pleas to some friends for guest strips, but in the meantime if anyone out there want to contribute, feel free to drop me an e-mail.  I know for sure that I'll have enough eye-candy to cover the regular Mon, Wed and Fri update days, but it'd be kinda nice if I could have some extra pieces so I can put up 5 or maybe even 7 updates that week.

Well, that's all for me for now guys.

13 / APR / 07 - 1721 CST : "Game Day - Pt. V"

Hey folks.

I don't really have anything to say, so I figured I'd juts drop by for a sec and wish everyone a very freaky Friday the 13th!

12 / APR / 07 - 1555 CST : The Kids Book Project...

Hey folks.

As I mentioned yesterday, I'll be taking part in Mike Rouse-Deane's "The Kid's Book Project" in an effort to help raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Basically the idea of this project is to gather a bunch (which when converted to the metric system seems to be about 60) of webcomic artists and have them each contribute one page towards a children's book.  The only catch for the artist however is that when it's time to do their page, they'll only be allowed to see the last page that was done before their own.  So essentially this story has the potential to head off in a totally different direction about 60 different times.

Which means the kids who read it should be in for quite a wild and amusing time at every turn of the page!

The best part though is that with each book sold the Make-A-Wish Foundation will be given 3.61 pounds (roughly $8 Canadian).  But in order to help make this project a success we need y'all to head on over to "The Kids Book Project" site and put in a pre-order so that we can hit our goal before press time (which will be October/November).  That means we all have 6 months to save up our nickels and dimes and put them to good use!

Well that's it for me for today.  I'll be dropping in to give you guys updates about this project as time goes on, plus I'll also be leaving the banner up at the top of each page from now until November.

See ya tomorrow guys.

11 / APR / 07 - 1159 CST : "Game Day - Pt. IV"

I'm in kind of a rush right now so I can't really talk / write much at the moment, but I'll be back either latter today or tomorrow to tell you folks about a very worthy cause that I'm going to be involved in, and how y'all can help make it a success.

In the mean time though, please take a few moments to click on the banner above the strip and check out Mike Rouse-Deane's charitable brainchild, "The Kid's Book Project".

09 / APR / 07 - 1755 CST : "Game Day - Pt. III"

Yes, a couple hundred strips later and Travis finally gets mentioned again.  Who knows, maybe in another year or two you'll actually get to meet him!

Okay, off to bed with me!

1509 CST : He's got a gun!

Hey folks.

The strip will be up in a few hours, but if you're looking for an art fix in the mean time you may want to check out a bit of fan art I did for Brooke over at A Girl and Her Fed.  On top of sending a few new readers my way, Brooke was also kind enough to take the time to write some kind words about GT in her News section.

Granted she did also refer to my strip as "The Bare Naked Ladies of online comics", but I've managed to find it in my heart to forgive her for that. ;P

Anyway, head on over to AGaHF and see me take a crack at Speedy, the talking koala.  Who, as I've said before, is one of the best written characters out there in webcomics today (when he's not being written by the likes of me that is).

Okay folks, I gotta get back to working on the strip now.

08 / APR / 07 - 0803 CST : "Happy Easter '07"

Hey folks.

Sorry for taking Good Friday off.  However I'm guessing a lot of you out there can understand how an amazing amount of food and family can quickly overrun a holiday weekend.

Still, I've got a little Easter offering for you guys today, so maybe that'll make up for it.  Plus we'll be continuing on with "Game Day" come Monday.

Alrighty, that's it for me.  See ya Monday!

04 / APR / 07 - 1739 CST : "Game Day - Pt. II"

Hey folks.

So after reading today's strip you may have come to the realization that while this arc may not be about WoW or EQ or anything like that, it is going to be based heavily around tabletop gaming.  Now I'm pretty sure a lot of you out there who check out GT have at least some knowledge of this particular area, but for those of you who don't (mom, I'm looking at you) I'll do my best to throw in enough general humour so that you can enjoy it as well too.

I'd also like to point out that Game Day Pt. Deux almost didn't make it to the site today because I came very close to losing several hours of my work due to complete and total stupidity.  However, it appears I've finally managed to learned three very important rules about digital art which managed to save my ass today. Allow me now to share these rules with you now.

1) Save multiple versions of your work, and save them often.

2) No seriously, save multiple versions of your work and do it often.

3) For the love of god man, would you learn to save multiple versions of your work already, and do it as often as you freakin' can!

And to think, it only took me about two years to figure all that out.

Okay, I'm off to bed.

02 / APR / 07 - 1917 CST : "Game Day - Pt. I"

Hey folks.  Let me explain a couple things about today's strip right off that bat.

First off, no, GT is not now, nor will it ever be a "gaming comic".  I've said this before, and I'll say it again; not only do I not do enough gaming to be able to harvest the amount of material needed to keep a gaming comic going, but there are so many people out there who already do them far better than I ever could, so I see no reason to start one up.

That being said, yes, this storyline will have to do with gaming.  However, this will most likely be the only World of Warcraft reference you'll find within it.  Which brings me to the second thing I'd like to address...

Now before anyone thinks I'm slamming World of Warcraft or online gaming in general, let me assure you that this isn't the case.  I'm a big fan of MMOGs (or whatever the latest acronym for them is nowadays) dating back to when Everquest started up.  Hell, even before that I used to play a few of the text based MUDs that were (and in some cases still are) out there.

As well I actually just started playing WoW about a month ago, and I thoroughly enjoy it.  In fact it's all I can do sometimes not to write strip after strip about it or drop by here and post stories that'll start off something like "This one time, at Badlands..."

All I'm saying here is that there are a lot of morons who not only play, but feel the need to be heard within the game as well.  And while I'm well aware that this particular group of jackoffs far from make up the majority of players on WoW, their vocal nature sometimes makes it seem that way.

Which is fine, I can handle that.  Frank on the other hand...not so much.

So there you go folks.  If you're a fan of WoW, please don't think I'm taking a shot at your leisure activity of choice here, 'cause I'm not.  I'm only poking fun at the minority of players who seem to lack any type of social skills whatsoever and give the rest of us a bad name.

Okay, that's enough for today.

-Ed
